A rich, toasty dark beer for the season
We’re delighted to share something special from our brewhouse – Dark Cask Special, 4.5%, the latest release in our Small Batch Brew series.
Brewed with a blend of Lager, Maris Otter, Munich and Chocolate malts, this beer pours a deep chestnut brown and carries aromas of toasted malt, honey and gentle spice. Classic Saaz and Northern Brewer hops bring balance and a crisp finish, making it wonderfully smooth and moreish.
A proper dark beer with character
Inspired by traditional Dunkel-style lagers and perfect for autumn evenings, Dark Cask Special is full-bodied yet beautifully drinkable. It’s the sort of beer that brings people together whether at home, or by the fire — comforting, full-flavoured, and unmistakably Chiltern.
Brewed in Terrick like all our beers, but using ingredients our brewers have specially selected just for this beer. However, quantities are limited, so once it’s gone, it’s gone!
Small Batch Brew – big flavour
Our Small Batch Brew range is all about exploration and creativity. Each release is brewed in small quantities, giving our brewers the freedom to experiment and showcase special, rare and interesting malts and hops.
Dark Cask Special is our eleventh Small Batch Brew of 2025, and a real celebration of the craft and innovation that goes into every pint we make.
