Light gold, 4%, Bucks Grown Barley and hops grown in our Brewery gardens this draught ale is fresh and lively with abundant green hop flavours (and zero food miles)!
It is a Small Batch Brew, so there is a limited quantity available.
Green Hop Ale 4%, is unique in our brewing schedule because we must wait for the hops to reach maturity before we can brew with them.
Two elements make this beer special - the growing season, and adding our Brewery grown hops.
A good harvest is dependent on a good growing season, and from this, the hops' growth, yield and aromatic oil content. Too damp and the hops suffer from mildew; too dry and they can be smaller than hoped.
To enjoy the vibrant, lively and fresh green flavour and aroma unique to this draught beer, we need to brew as close to the harvest day as possible. Our Brewers therefore need to be nimble-footed to create an opening for a brew!
Our Brewers were on tenterhooks for several weeks as they check the hops growing in our Brewery gardens daily, and tried to work out when they'd need a slot to brew Green Hop Ale. Happily, our Brewers are quick on their feet and created the time needed to brew it.
And in harmony with our 45 Years in Beer celebrations, the harvest has been successful! We have a wonderful, fresh, lively beer packed with green hop flavours, which are naturally more mellow.
Always highly anticipated, but not guaranteed because of the hops' will-they, won't-they nature, we are raising a glass to this year's successful harvest!
