Originally brewed especially for the Kop Hill Climb, Kop Hill Ale has become a much-loved seasonal fixture at The Chiltern Brewery.

More than a decade ago, we were approached to create a beer for this celebrated historic motoring event, held just a few miles from the brewery in Princes Risborough. We have brewed it for the Climb every year since.

Smooth, amber and gently citrusy, Kop Hill Ale has a distinctive tangerine character, balanced malt and an easy, refreshing finish.

The beer for the Climb

The Kop Hill Climb has its roots in the pioneering days of British motoring, when cars and motorcycles first took on the famous Buckinghamshire hill in the early 20th century.

Today, the revived event celebrates that remarkable history with an extraordinary gathering of historic vehicles, enthusiasts and spectators.

Kop Hill Ale was created specifically for the occasion in association with The Red Lion in Whiteleaf, close to the Climb, and has returned alongside the event for more than a decade.

It is a relationship we are particularly proud of: a local beer, brewed here in the Chiltern Hills, for an event with its own rich local history.

You'll also find Kop Hill Ale pouring in the Beer Tent at this year's Kop Hill Climb on 12th & 13th September.

Character & Style

Kop Hill Ale is a smooth, easy-drinking amber ale with a gentle citrus character.

Its rounded malt base gives the beer warmth and balance, while bright tangerine notes bring freshness and lift.

At 3.7%, it is a refreshing and characterful pint with a clean, satisfying finish — just the right amount of oomph to get you over the line.
